Posted by Bardel as i was evacuating new orleans in my chevy impala i drove through eatonville (09/05), happy to finally see the hometown of one of my literary heroes. unfortunately, it seemed like the whole town was under construction. it was sunday morning and there was lots of church people traffic too. i couldn't even find a plaque dedicated to zora. people on the streets did know who she was. i know this becuase i frequently asked people for directions. eatonville looks like a modern florida neighborhood. perhaps i was looking in the wrong area. can someone give a description of the historic part of town?
