Lock ups at CS launch..

Hello all,
I recently purchased a new pc.Gigabyte mtherboard,amd 1.7,ddr ram(256),Win98 os,Tnt32 ultra card from my old comp using Hercules drivers.Pc locks when CS logs onto server.CS splash screen appears to flicker..the info. text kind of flickers then locks up.Frustrating.Any suggestions? Thx
