Now thats a ride! I have rode alot on the southern section of rt. 16 over the years. Man there are some of the steepest, highest mountains down around Welch and on to the WV/VA boarder. There are curves in the mountains where semi trucks got to call out on the CB radio to let trucks coming the other direction know that they are entering the curve. Big trucks can't pass each other in some of the curves their so tight.
You got to watch your butt when riding on this road. Alot of big coal and timber trucks use this road heavly and there is always rock, sand, coal and crap in the curves. Alot of fun on a sport bike but a tight butt gripper on a touring bike.
As it stands right now I'm good for a good ride in mid July so You just might get the plearure of meeting me, and me, you.
Would be nice just to get a bunch of people togther and just ride for a change instead of run.
Hell, the last poker run I went on they had a police escort. The run went through the county at 60-70mph with cops blocking all intersections so we could run thru at breakneck speed. We did about 50 miles in 20 min. Man it was nothing short of a major wreck waiting to happen. Seventy bikes in a group flying down the road. I was tense knowing that there were many in the run that were new riders and never did a group ride before. I stayed way back in the rear where I would had a good view of the choas ahead and plenty of time to avoid it.
