Shadow,
Thumbs up to ya bro. You just keep on keepin on.
If I recall correctly, The Run For the Wall began with a few Veterans protesting War, Bringin our brothers home, and a protest against all future wars. Started sometime in the late 80's . Took awhile to get the gig happening.
Folks finially took notice of our numbers crossing the nation. Seemed like a good idea to protest all future wars, bring our POW'S home and put an end to all the nonsense. Started out with a dozen vets and grew to thousands. The "run for the wall" was concieved after the initial ROLLING THUNDER had been in place for a decade. We almost got the attention of the nation.
Almost
We have gone to war again. Not my choice, nor yours. Since beginning this war, our nations people have paid dearly in lives, food, fuel, plus medical prices, and even lost their homes. We have clowns running for president only to follow the one who would produce weapons of mass destruction in the oil rich desert. I feel our nation is currently lead by stupid people. Stupid people are scared. They rely more on brawn than thought. And here the mighty USof A is in another conflict we cannont possibly win. South East Asia rings a bell.
I have attended Rolling Thunder. I always felt my number was counted in the protest of war. I supported the protest of war. This past year in my personal run to our nation's capitol, I found most riders were there for a "party" and not a protest. Most of the kids attending have never even served in the military. They are just there to party. To be honost, last year, I turned away from DC. I was quite discusted with the attitude of the kids attending Rollilng Thunder. I think they have lost the meaning behind the idea. Most are just kids on joy machines looking to party---.
I get fliers and e-notices about Rolling Thunder. buy this, support that, send money here, send money there. Pffftt!!!!! Commericialism bites.
Rolling Thunder in its originial pure form made me feel good to attend. I wanted my number to be counted. I was proud to be a Veteran protesting war. This year, Im gonna hook up with the RFTW in my own time and space. If I find it a party, Im gonna roll off in discust. If the originial cause rings true, I will ride right on into DC.
