Ok Kelly,
Ya caught me. I ride. Ain't about to get caught up in any groups or clubs. I am a vet. Just cause I served aint nothin special. Solo, independent. My time in the armed forces taught me to enjoy life, improvise, and to keep on keepin on. Hookin up with clubs/groups/even poker runs----slows me down. If them folks even gave a shit, I might think somethin different, but most riders today are wannabees. Nobody stops anymore, and the last thumbs I caught was 5 years ago.
Personally, I hope the highways are returned to the bikers----the real bikers. Not the yuppie wannabies who ride bikes (I fear those assholes are here forever) but the folks who really care. The folks who will stop and ask, "ok" before they leave. Bikers--Kelly--who carry tools, willing to lend some time and meet new friends. Bikers Kelly. Most likely to return home with more money than they left home with. Honost to goodness true and honost "bikers."
The closest I have come to meet in the past 5 years or so of the soul of the true honost "bikers" ride BMW's. Those folks are mostly real. Its become a very rare occasion that a Harley rider will take the time to say hello. The metric riders----never seen one stop yet. They rank right up there with the clubs who "promote safe motorcycle operation".
My dear Kelly, There are a few "bikers" still hangin on. No clubs, no groups, no runs, no time for stupid shit. Still, with no time to waste on stupid shit, they always seem to find the time to stop for a motorcycle along the side the road to ask if everything is alright. The "biker" always has the time to take an adventure to fix another machine, have a beer or meal, or take an alternative route. Real "bikers" have the time to spare---if they choose. There are not many "bikers" left in the world anymore. I fear we have been overun with advertisments, yuppies and assholes with a weekend dream. The way of life has been tainted.
Yea Kelly, they are as welcome to the highway as anyone in a cage----weekend riders, trikers are the worst----but not a single one is a "biker." Ya can smell the difference before ya even see em. Once ya see em, ya see polished chrome and polish----wannabees dont ride much. The smell of melting wax makes my nose chringe. The gleem in their eye of so called "brotherhood" makes me wanna gag. Their manicured hair, polished boots, color corridinated skid lids and matching gloves----I got no tolorance for that shit. Them folks aint real bikers. They wouldn't make a pipmple on a bikers ass.
Then they wanna think "bad"???? Pack a pistol??? Act like someone they saw in the movies??? Talk kinda funny and macho???? and all the time on their weekend scoots----either thinkin their something special or better than anyone else????? My dear Kelly why would you wish to find me?????
I think I got ya pegged Kelly, but I do not believe your ready to go riding with me. I am willing to give ya the benifit of the doubt and meet ya in Rainelle for the "run for the wall" and Rolling Thunder. Plenty of chances to talk during the "run". I know Im gonna do the Skyline (or somewhere close) drive and throw the groundcloth somewhere besides the party campgrounds.
No changes here Kelly. I go and stop where I wish. No schedule. No destinaton, often, no direction,. Reckon ya could think Im still running around in circles.
John
