The dry weather has left 46 counties in the state affected by drought to some degree, said Manchin. The ban includes camp fires and fires used to remove debris. Forestry Director Randy Dye said 99 percent of forest fires in West Virginia are started by humans, and 26 percent of those begin as fires intended to remove debris.
