Your right Shadow. It has became a "Us against Them" situation. "Us" being the cops and "Them" being the public.
I do think the Cops need to tone down their appearence. At one time the para-military look was just for the SWAT team. Now, it has became a everyday uniform for the whole department. It does make a statement that they are ready for war and that is not the job of law enforcement. That is the job of the military.
Cops seemed to have forgotten their main purpose in society, "To protect and to serve".
Citizens need to pay attention to whats going on within their local police department. Should it appear that the cops are becoming a military force within the community we need to speak up.
Failure to do so will result in the loss of freedom, privacy and other Constitutional Rights.
