The posting regarding places that have good hot dogs got me to thinking. Did you know that WV has the "Mona Lisa" of hot dogs? Yep, WV is one of the few places where you get a hot dog made with a steamed bun, cold slaw, chili, onions, mustard, ketchup and a good weiner. In other parts of the country people have no clue that slaw goes on a hot dog. It's strange that the simple hot dog is served hundreds of different ways across the country. In Chicago they eat dogs with tomato, celery salt and pickles on them. Ask for a dog with chili and slaw and they give you a look like your from another planet.
During my travels I have had to order a chili dog and a side order of cold slaw and make my own WV hot dog. People trip out when they see you load a dog up with slaw. But once they try it, their sold.
So, we do have something to be proud of. The West Virginia Hot Dog! Best in the country!
