Huntington police Patrolman Mike Hudson said the department will be conducting low-manpower checkpoints tonight into Saturday and Saturday into Sunday. They will be in operation between 9 p.m. and 1 a.m. each night in the 1500 block of 7th Avenue and 1100 block of 8th Avenue. Barboursville police Chief Alan Meek said he has worked about 40 hours overtime into his department’s schedule. The officers will operate a checkpoint and saturate U.S. 60 and W.Va. Alt. 10. Barboursville officers will work the checkpoint tonight into Saturday from 9:30 p.m. to 2 a.m. on W.Va. Alt. 10. Meek said there is no dedicated effort planned for Interstate 64.
