Paying to park does suck but since you mentioned going to bike events how many have you been to where you didn't have to pay a much higher dollar amount to get thru the gate? I think the way they had you pay was stupid...they could have done it at the gate...it held up to much traffic. I kind of doubt they're doing much "lining of the pockets" charging $2.00 per person or whatever it was. Events like that (stages/lighting, bands, stunt shows, bike builders, tents, people to run the event, porta johns, etc.) have to cost a pretty good chunk of money to run and most things they do are free to the public. Having known some people who were tied to the old rally in Buckhannon sponsors rarely pay the full tab for the costs. You gotta think they need some operating cash to do all the things they do. I do agree that the parking situation needs some improvement but on the flip side space is an issue at that place. I thought it was decent they actually tried to assist buy offering to bus people to the top. You know those bus drivers don't work for free. If they let people park up top wherever they want it would create too many logistical problems...there is only one way in and out. How do they get supplies in quickly if their access is blocked with traffic? Wouldn't you be pissed if the beer truck couldn't get thru due to traffic and the taps were dry...I know I would. Go easy man...it takes a few years for these new events to get their stuff together.
