LJ, a few years back I got a ticket for riding with no helmet. Although, I did have a non-DOT helmet on. The Trooper said since it wasn't an approved helmet it was the same as not wearing one and wrote me up. I was ready to fight it in court, but when I went to court the judge told me the fine was 1 dollar so I decided that it wasn't worth fighting. Why spend alot of time and money to fight a buck fine? But when I went to the clerk to pay my one dollar fine she told me I owed $65 dollars. I said hold on there the judge said one dollar. She said thats right one dollar for the fine and 64 dollars court cost. Screwed again !
Here in Kanawha County a bunch of bikers got togther and rode without helmets not long ago. There was about fifty of us and we rode around the Capitol and all through Charleston. The cops just watched but took no action. They knew we were wanting the tickets so we could tie up the court system and draw national attention, so they wouldn't take the bait. They would rather wait and pick you off one at a time on their terms. And when they get you on their terms they have your bike towed off and impounded until you can go get an "approved" helmet. Now you got not only a possible fine, but a towing and storage bill to boot. And we know the tow truck driver isn't going to use kid gloves when he moves your bike. He could care less about your pride and joy. So screwed again !
Maybe you got an idea with that resistance thing.lol
