The only way the helmet law will be changed is if bikers show up at the Capitol in mass everyday while the legislator's are in session.
Without a big daily turnout we cannot fight the big bucks that the insurance and medical people have to kill any bill brought up. Bikers as a group do not have the money to hire lobbist to work for us, as the insurance/medical groups do.
It's a case of money talks. And we know that the legislators listen to the sound of money being pressed into their palm, free dinners, free drinks and whatever else they can squeeze out of you.
But they hate to see bunches of bikers hanging around the Capitol building. They say it scares the good citizens. They will strike a deal to pass a new helmet law if bikers will just leave. But the key here is not to let them drag it out through the whole session and screw us at the end. They have pulled this trick on us before. The deal must be made to have this done at the beginning of the session or bikers will be at the Capitol everyday until we are heard and have the law changed.
