I haven't done alot of riding this past year. Not nearly as much as in the proceeding years. Yea, I did get myself intoxicated more than once, but didnt get anywhere new. I fell off a poarch, found myself mezmorized at what the builders are doing with the metric bikes, and attempted membership with a ride club. Well, the ride club isn't really what I like to do. Too many personalities going in too many directions, I really dont wanna ride a metric, and falling off the poarch was most embarrassing. All in all, my riding year------lets just say, I have had better years.
I did finially find the electric generating windmills, a great trout stream, and lots of back-country roads that are less travelled. I discovered that the popular northern, WV HD shop dont know what "belt dressing" is, and when a friend of mine went to get new tires over Mountainfest, they asked him what year his bike is, and their reply was, "We dont service motorcycles that old." I discovered Rhino-Lining, and met a woman in a bar who is attempting to bring the State Police into the area------after we spent decades getting them out.
I didnt do a single "poker run" this year. I think on my rides, I might have gotten up to 80 mph once on a nice backroad, and might have gotten up to 90 on the interstate. I reckon Carb cleaner and a wire brush will clean my jets this winter. That "new fuel" we have these days kinda seems to gum things up.
I have heard folks talking about the new fuel injection vs. the naturally asperated machines. Seems funny to me how it happens that they get 25mpg with the new fangled stuff, then go to a carb and get 40mpg, and alot more "stuff" when they accelerate. Makes me wonder which puts more funk in the air.
Well, all in all, I suppose its been a nice year. No flat tires (knockin on wood) no major difficulties, and just one traffic stop.
Hey y'all, there is a little 8 sided "yellow" stopsign hidden behind a bush in Pensborrow, WV. right in front of the cop shop. I got a "warning" for not stopping there. The officer was nice. He just wanted to see my "papers."
See ya on the backroads.
