John and I went there a couple years ago, and 'yuppified' was a pretty good way to describe it. Take money. Lots of money. Our route included little funds. We did manage to go 'up on the hill'; however, we slept on the asphalt parking lot beside the bike instead of in the $200+ a night rooms at the 'big house'. People stared and felt uncomfortable with that. We could see the band from about 200 yards away, if we carefully looked between the uniformed security guards who were making certain that everyone who listened paid to gain entrance. Woodstock it's not. From there, we went to the bar 'on the hill'. Again, take lots of money. We managed to meet a couple of fun folks, but by and large it was a crowd that left us both feeling like aliens. As I recall, there were nice looking girls at the bar; however, you might want to clean up a bit and flash your gold card before you'd be noticed by them if you catch my drift.
Unless things have changed greatly, a trip to that event is sure not on my schedule of fun things to do. My bike is dirty, it drips lots of oil, and I kinda like it that way. This event is place where folks stand in line for bike detailing on already-clean bikes. Enough said.
