Posted by Keith V. on 7/5/2007, 9:40 am It will be known as the 'Dick Trickle 99' and will consist of three 33-lap segments for Wisconsin Late Models. The event will be featured on the Friday night of Oktoberfest. Points will be awarded at the end of each of the three segments: one point for winner, two for second and so on. The over-all winner will be the low point score. This unique event is modeled after the award winning 'Milk Bowl' run for 43 years at Auto Racing Promoter of the Year Tom Curley’s Thunder Road Speedway in Barre, Vermont. “Give it three years and it will be the marquee event of the Oktoberfest weekend,” predicted Curley. “It is one of the toughest races to win there is, there are so many variables.” Fans can follow the point totals with a free scorecard which will be distributed that Friday evening. The same 24 Super Late Models will race in each segment, but it will be three totally different line-ups. ASA/Midwest Tour rules will apply. The fastest 16 qualifiers will advance with the balance of the field coming from last/chance events and promoter’s options. Officials will run a B-main for the cars not qualifying for the ‘Dick Trickle 99’. “It should be fun, it should be different and it will be exciting”, forecast Trickle who will participate in the inaugural race. “It’s only the second thing in Wisconsin to ever be named after me.” Trickle, a Wisconsin racing legend, won 67 features in 1972 and has won over 1000 during his career. “In shorter races like these 33-lappers, you have to charge to the front in a hurry,” Trickle explained, “but to finish first, first you have to finish.” At the ‘Milk Bowl’ in Vermont, the winner has to 'kiss the cow', at LaCrosse they will have to 'eat the cheese' to collect the special event trophy. This will be the 38th Annual Oktoberfest Race Weekend at LaCrosse. Last year’s event attracted 565 racers competing in 14 divisions. More information will be posted on www.lacrossespeedway.com as it becomes available."

Looks like Mr. Trickle will be at Oktoberfest again. In fact, there's a new event named after him, which he will be running in (along with the usual Oktoberfest 100 on Sunday):
"July 3, 2007 - West Salem, WI - An exciting new event will be added to this fall’s Oktoberfest Race Weekend October 4-5-6--7 at the LaCrosse Fairgrounds Speedway.
