It was a fun night for Trickle fans. DT was fast right off the bat, and the crowd could hardly contain themselves when it slowly dawned on them that he wasn't going away. If this 65-year-old driver had lost anything, there was no evidence of it on the track. At times, he seemed to drive with an air of detached bemusement as younger drivers tried and failed to pass on the inside. The fans left no doubt as to who the most popular (and unpopular) driver was. I get the same feeling with this new car as I got when Tommy Baldwin Jr. started clicking with Dick: here is a legitimate chance to win. Here's hoping Mr. Trickle is OK and inspired to visit a few more short tracks this summer.
