I am emailing every cane corso site that I can find, Canada and US. My name is Valerie Mackett and I am co-founder of New Hope Dog Rescue in Thunder Bay, Ontario Canada. There is an older adult female Cane Corso at the local pound. I take dogs from this facility that are scheduled to be put to sleep, I have been given 48 hoursnotice on this girl. Unfortunately I am flooded with dogs right now(typically spring) and I do not have an available foster for her. Would you onsider taking her or do you have any contacts at rescues that may be able to take this gal in. I have to say she is very sweet. She likes to wipe her face on your leg and loves to be patted. I can touch her anywhere and she doesn't mind at all. I looked in her ears, in her mouth, touched her toes and she doesn't mind one bit. She has some tartar on her teeth, nothing that a good scraping couldn't get rid of. She has been examined by a vet when they picked her up and I was given the exam notes which read as follows: It says as follows: mass protuding from vulva, mass protruding out is pink, has a thin stalk that attaches to wall of vagina not too far inside, likely dog is not spayed and this could be hyperplasia due to hormones or could bea tumor/polyp. It doesn't seem to be bothering dog and doesn't look infected at this time and isn't painful. Mammary glands - can palpate some, small growths in caudal (right) 5th gland (firm) as well as a couple other solitary growths in other glands. Yesterday, they signed the dog over to me (New Hope Dog Rescue), as I did not want to take the chance that they put her to sleep. I am boarding her at the pound facility for the time being, as I do not want to move her into a boarding kennel to eliminate stressing her more than I have to. Would you know any contacts in Northern Ontario that may be interested in adopting her. I would would be willing to contribute something to offset some of the vet expenses, if that would help to place her. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank You Valerie Mackett New Hope Dog ResQ Thunder Bay, ON807 624-8686
