Laurie, thanks for the feedback. I'm located in Desoto, TX, thats a suburb of Dallas. In the past I've been affiliated with Triangle Shutzhund. Dallas Rottweiler Association. I'm in agreement with you on the socialization aspect. I don't believe any dog should be isolated from the family. I've learned along time ago that the K9 is an animal that, In it's natural state would never be alone; they are social and pack animals and require companionship just as we do.. My reason for communicating with this website is for information gathering. I firmly understand everything you've mentioned earlier. My one concern is that I'm a pretty intense person and have only had experience training Alpha type dogs. With an Alpha male Cane Corso, I just trying to get prepared. My time line for getting started will be about this time or mid 2009. I want my daughter to be a bit older and I also want to be throughly informed about this breed. Some of the handlers I've spoken with as well as helpers appear to be apprehensive about this breed, if not afraid; I'm trying to find out why. I am acquainted with only one person here who has a Cane Corso and he's into the weight pulling sport for his dogs. Anyway thanks for your feedback and I'll be in touch.
