oooo, touchy subject!
lol, I'll bite.
ok, I am by no means and expert, but I will pass on my understanding on the matter. If I offend anyone I am sorry, feel free to correct me if I am wrong, like I said I am no expert.
From what I understand there is no way of telling if American Cane Corso is mixed or not because of the breed registrations. If your dog looks the standard of the Cane Corso then you can get your dog registered with that organization and it will have 'Cane Corso papers'
When you consider that these dogs are imported and a rare breed and ask how many rural farmers with old school working dogs had papers for their dogs etc, you can imagine why they made it that way, but it does leave openings for all sorts of cross breeding to take place until they bred true to type.
Sooo, we will never really know for sure.
This being said, and after all I have been through with health issues, I don't necessarily think this is a bad thing if it's true. The true Itallian CC has a very small gene pool to draw from and it seems health issues are becoming more and more of a problem. I wonder if the American CC is experiencing the same thing?
As for the boar hunting, I have no doubt that somewhere in Italy they are still used for this purpose.
hope that helps,
ttyl,
Lexie
