Posted by Lexie My dog is a female, her name is Phoenix and yes she is a Congo baby(and foramentino) I have her whole registered pedigree if you care to put the puzzle together, it seems you have been around alot longer than I have, as I did indeed miss the early stuff regarding Karen etc. One last question, do you or anyone else reading think that the foremantino thing has anything to do with whatever genetic anomoly is causing the lumps? what color are the other dogs mentioned? did they have darker littermates without this? I have always wondered if that plays a role, being a recessive gene and all.

Well since you asked, I will tell you, but I wish you would post with a real name, it just is so much more credible than a capitolized rant....even if it is worth ranting about ![]()
I am fascinated to learn that you have seen lumps in this line before, how many dogs? are they all Congo babies? were they bred and did they pass it on as well? I will never breed Phoenix, but I am still curious to know as I get no conclusive answers from talking to vets, just maybes and maybe nots.
Do you think spaying her will help prevent them from coming back? can I contact the owners who have gone throught this as well?
as for Epi, how many Congo babies do you know that have had epi? It wasn't an issue in Phoenix's litter(12)
I am beginning to think that all lines are epi carriers if you keep track of every single pup. Do you know otherwise? if so what lines do you consider safe?
Yes, these lumps are on her shoulders, hind legs and sides, but after doing research, that is where they usually form, and it is common to have multiple sites with trichopheliomas. one was a mast cell tumor and that IS cancerous. do you know of any others in her line to have those?
thanks for the help,
ttyl,
Lexie
