Don , surviving on game that can kill a dog like hog and bear just shows that a dog has some backup ...like the time you slipped up and posted about meeting your dogs coming off a bad hog ? Plenty of hounds run hog successfully and bear but aren't gritty on coon ...I've seen several terriers that could run and bay hog that were real soft on coon. By the same token ,I wouldn't say that a gritty dog on coon would even bark at a hog til' the dog actually did it ... there are no dots to connect between what any dog does on one game versus another kind of game.
