Posted by Justin Ryder on 11/24/2005, 8:42 am, in reply to "Re: New management" It's also just plain silly to compare a dog that has only fought caged coon to the ones doing it in the wild ..finding ,staying and working game on their own ...a soft dog that can find their own game is worth a hundred times more than one that is a hero on caged game and can't find in the wild. If anyone wants to find out if they have a good Airedale , breed good Airdales or train a good Airdale ..you gotta keep that dog in the woods several times a week for a year or two and only judge the dog based on what kind of wild game it can put on the barn wall without help. I owned one Airedale like that , never could find a female to match him to raise pups from but if I wanted to take a picture it would have been when he was under a bobcat , barked out after being in the woods for a day and a half ..alone . If you haven't hunted with a good Airedale then you wouldn't understand the disgust I get from a picture of what might be a good dog under a kitten coon someone let out of a trap. Maybe I'll got take a pic of a mini-schnauzer baying a piglet and the sale barn and then make the claim that he's just as good as one of Don's hogdogs ...or is that too simple .

Don , I hardly ever dispute anyone's claim to what they do in the woods ...but without exception , I've never known anyone with a dog that can find game in the wild that would stand for someone to show a picture of that dog on caged game ...it's an insult to a good dog and the hard work that goes into training one.
