Working Dog Temperament:
A good candidate should be the kind of dog that consistently imposes itself on the environment. This dog will show high energy, intelligence and be very bold. It's acceptable independence will be observed in the dog that is very inquisitive and alert to any activities, odors, noises and novel visual stimuli in it's surroundings and express an inordinate curiosity to investigate, without reticence, any new stimuli. The dog will retrieve with enthusiasm, high energy, anticipation and focused intensity. The dog will show and desire to possess the fetch object. Changes in footing, elevation, noise, congestion and the like should be overcome by the dogs focused intensity to "get" the fetch object.
Confidence in any environment a hallmark of the working dog.
This is what I want to see in a grown dog. I would appreciate input...what do you want to see?
Maybe we can come up with Robert's "values" or core traits.
