Remember when we were wrongly docked points for something out of our control and Sandbrook went on to win the league?
This is an email from The Dock to the league... it just brought back memories.
I don't why he emailed it to everyone... is he suggesting the league is corript? I don't know.. make you're own decisions.... here it is...
John,
I have just been advised of the decision of the Discipline Hearing held on
Thursday to award the points from the recent Premier Division fixture between
Queens Park and Warwick to Queens Park as a result of Warwick having played a
player who was not eligible at the time of the fixture.
which I consider to be absolutely outrageous and totally contrary to the league
rules and fair play. I would draw your attention to Rule 8(Q)(iii) which quite
clearly states "The Management Committee in exceptional circumstances may at its
discretion award any points deducted from a Club under this Rule to the
opponents in the match in question, subject to the match not being ordered to be
replayed." I would ask what if any are the exceptional circumstances which
would, and indeed should prevent this fixture from being replayed which as you
are fully aware will have a significant bearing on the Premier Division
Championship. I have no objection whatsoever at the decision to deduct points
from Warwick for the breach of rules, however, the decision to award points to
their opponents is absolutely preposterous.
because as it stands we believe that as a direct result our Club are being
indirectly penalised for something which is absolutely not of our making. I
would also beg to suggest that titles and trophies should be won on the pitch
and not through decisions of disciplinary hearings. As things stand those
responsible for this decision may just as well be wearing Queens Park shirts as
they have just awarded the Club their most valuable 3 points of the season and
in doing so have made an absolute mockery of the Houlihan's Birkenhead Sunday
Football League.
incident which occurred some years ago when we were playing against Rock Ferry
Social who were struggling for a team and we lent them players so the match went
ahead. Unfortunately, we lost the game but did not seek or indeed expect for the
game to be replayed or be awarded the points and the result stood which at that
time cost us a runners up spot. I am also sure having spoken to the Queens Park
Secretary earlier in the week who fully expected the game to be replayed that
their Club will be embarrased by this decision and it would not be how they
would want or expect to achieve success.
