Spotted Cat's-ears leaves are not always spotted. Some leaves develop spots which then fade through the season. However there is a way of telling the leaves apart from Common Cat's-ear and that is to check the number of vascular bundles in the leaf petioles -- there are 3 in H. radicata and 5-7 in H. maculata (vide Poland).
