I live in Atlanta, Georgia, and came across an unusual red flower that I have been unable to identify after much searching in a variety of resources. The four petals "fold up" and are closed at the top in a sort of twist. The stamen protrudes through the top an inch or more. Leaves are huge and jagged. Flower blooms in mid-summer or later. Unfortunately, I'm not sure how to upload an image. So, given my difficulty in identifying it already, I suspect this isn't much to go on. But any clues would be much appreciated.
