The film version of WSS was nominated for 14 oscars, but won 10 Oscars/awards, including the Academy award for the Best Picture of the Year for 1961, as well as Best Supporting Actress-won by Rita Moreno, Best supporting Actor--won by George Chakiris. Best Director--Robert Wise, Best choreographer-Jerome Robbins, and a number of others. (Correct me if I'm wrong, anybody)
