Here on Viper's site under the "pow/mia" link there are many interesting stories. These stories indicate that beyond any doubt American POWs by the hundreds are still rotting in Vietnam. Not only that but that the US "government" has full knowledge of this and has done nothing. To the contrary, the "government" has through the WTO, IMF ,World Bank etc promoted certain business interests in Vietnam. There are currently over 400 US Corporations profiting from these arrangments allowed by our "government".Ford, Intel, Cisco, Coca Cola, ,UPS, blah , blah ,blah, an endless list. In one of the articles the writer poses the question "why?". It's about international profiteering by US Corporations. It's about globalism. It's about the World Bank (McNamara until lately) IMF , WTO blah , blah , blah. That's why we would rather cut sweet deals with Vietnam rather than get our POWs back. All of this is not solely the government's fault. They represent the American people quite well. Americans could care less if we still have POWs in Vietnam. Wars and such things as feelings for POWS are things which only a small percent of Americans have ever experienced.
