1. Were you already enlisted or were you drafted?
I was drafted after it was obvious the American people wanted out of vietnam
2. What was your role in the war (position, duties, etc)?position? funny......infantry
3. At the time, what was your take on the war? Were you against it?none
4. Who did you have to part with at home (wife, children, parents)? Did you think you were going to see them again?usual
5. Describe the scene when you first arrived in Vietnam. Were you scared? Numb?just doing my thing
6. The President said you were fighting for something. Did you truly believe this during the war? Or did you think you were fighting without a cause?fighting to stay alive
7. Did you know who your enemy was in combat?yes the american people
8. Did you lose any special friends while fighting?a few
9. I heard a Vietnam Veteran say "Despite all the fighting, Vietnam was a beautiful place with wonderful beaches and mountains." Do you agree?along the coast or up north it was pretty from a distance
10. I know that many people in the villages had guns and were against the American troops, but did you meet any nice people? Did you make friends with any villagers or women?there were some honorable vietnamese, some as honorable as any American
11. Do you have any pleasant memories about Vietnam? Is there a particular experience that stands out?none worth mentioning yes a cup of hot chocolate with a view
12. What was daily life like when you first entered the war?just hump that rucksack and hope the one being bagged wasn't you
13. Are you in any way affected by Agent Orange?yes they say, it's fatal, this year for sure.
14. What was it like to constantly hear firing and bombing? Did you get used to it?yes
15. Did you meet any significant people during your tour of duty?ancient history
16. A veteran once told me that he often found himself bored, waiting for the enemy to arrive. i never got bored What did you do when you weren't fighting?
17. What have you learned from the war? Has it changed your view on anything in life? it don't mean nothing
18. What do you think of the war today in Iraq? bs just like nam but with better food etc
19. Did you know anything about the anti-war protesters back in the US? If so, what was your take on them? morons with a cause
20. What did you miss the most when you were overseas?can't recall

22. What was it like coming home? How were you treated? How do you think Vietnam Veterans have been treated compared to other war veterans?the usual insults at the airport not from hippies but from good americans
23. If you were to go back in time would you change any decisions you made about going to war, or about your time spent there? i would have taken something to sit on
24. If you could tell everyone in the world something you learned from fighting, what would it be, and why? that you're just a pawn in a game run by poweful people, be aware of what you may die for
25. How did the war affect your relationship with friends and family when you returned?unsure
26. How did your view of the war differ from when you were called to duty to after you were done serving overseas?unchanged
