Greetings-
My name is Erin McCoy and I am a PhD student of humanities at the University of Louisville. My dissertation concerns American music of the Vietnam War era.
I am currently writing part of my dissertation in the form of a paper I am giving at a conference in November, and I wanted to get the GI perspective/vet perspective on retroactively listening to the music of the era - for pleasure. I will post the abstract under this post.
What I am hoping to find out, from you, is how that music effects you today, can you listen to it without evoking memory (if not, are the memories pleasant or not). Also, if you have time, what does the music from the time mean to you now?
Thank you so much for your input. If you would like to email me directly (erin_mccoy@hotmail.com) I would welcome that, and *please note* that your name will NOT be used in this paper unless you expressly request it.
Thank you, and bless.
