OMG, lady. While I'm grateful that you'd care enough to honor Robert's memory & service to his country by continuing to wear his MIA bracelet... I must inform you that you have some FACTS wrong. When you state: "...later in the day, his twin brother walked into the room and scared us all to death!!!"... I don't know if you are 'confused' about that part... or, are simply 'embellishing' an already tragic story. I truly hope you are confused because if you are attempting to "play" with the reality of young Bobby's tragic death... it sickens me to no end.
The truth is, Madame, that Robert Dale Herreid, hailing from Williston, N. Dakota, a very dear friend with whom I grew up, HAD NO TWIN BROTHER. He had an older brother, Wally, older by two years, and a sister, Vicki, a year younger than us. We all called him Bob, or Bobby, or 'Bunny', as he was an excellant athlete at football, baseball, basketball, and track. That kid was a speedster and could run and dart and turn on a dime, just like a rabbit, hence, the nickname, Bunny. He was an above average student... extremely popular with all who knew him. Wally did not resemble Bobby enough to be mistaken for his twin... and therein lies my consternation at your contention that "his twin entered the room..." WE ARE NOT AMUSED.
As for the remarks left by Donald Fielder... I simply ask: How in God's name could you people abandon Bobby on that mountainside? No matter if he was killed outright, or wounded, it boggles the mind that you would permit him to be abandoned... left to rot, as tho his being, his sacrificial service, meant nothing. You have no idea of the long-termed excruciating pain and suffering your abandonment of Bobby's body... never to be recovered or returned to his loved ones, has caused so many to suffer, due to your callous attitude toward a fellow comrade in arms.
Simply, not to be forgiven. He deserved so much better than that. How f-ing hard could it have been to return, with forces sufficient to retrieve Bobby's remains? UNFORGIVEABLE.
