I was 8 or 9 in 1969, but I remember watching the tv & wondering why if these were our men coming home, why they weren't recieved more warmly. I wondered what they had done that was so wrong that they got such treatment. All war veterns hold a special place in my heart because my dad was Korean war vet. I think that the veitnam vets have waited to long for that welcome home that they should have gotten in the first. People need to remember that when a man or women agrees to defend our country & freedom, they are being told who & what is the enemy of the U.S. & they are just following their orders just like other soliders in other wars did. Why is our government not doing more to get back our men? This wrong & why should our country be ashamed of these men? They did NOTHING to be ashamed of. The U.S. government ought to thank their lucky stars that we have men & women who will fight & die to defend this great country. The people who have it backwards is the anti-war demonstrators, if we didn't have people willing to go & fight, we would have won the Revotionary War. Sometimes to stay a free people we have to fight & sadly some of them had die. Noboby ever said that freedom was free!! Former President George Bush understood that & he had compassion on those families that lost loved ones. Has everyone forgotten 9/11?? What we felt like as a country? How wanted to get the people who had done this to us? And now we have a President who is letting those same people free & dropping all charges!!! We as a country I feel have just taken 100 steps backwards & all those men & women who have died to keep us free, I feel will have died in vain because of the Presidents decision on this matter. May God protect us from our stupidity.
