Steve!
Your co-worker is a lying piece of "Bleep"!
First of all:
The 1st Bn 9th Marines arrived in RVN, in June 1965, and departed RVN in July 1969.
Secondly:
There Were No, Repeat No, US Armed Forces Tactical Ground Combat Units In RVN, After Spring Of 1973! That year being USARMY, since the last Marine Tactical Ground Combat Unit departed RVN in late summer of 1971, some 19-20 months p-r-i-o-r to when last USARMY such so did, in spring of 1973. The war from spring of 1973 and onwards until the fall of Saigon in 1975 did not, repeat Not, involve US Armed Forces Tactical Ground Combat Units! So even if the co-worker states having been temp. attached to another unit in 1975, when you initially tell him the 1/9th Marines left RVN in 1969, he still would Not have been in RVN in 1975 with a Tactical Ground Combat Unit of USMC!
I wish to also suggest to you, that you check out the following link:
POWNetwork "Phonies and Wannabee's"-list:
http://www.pownetwork.org/phonies/phonies.htm
If your co-worker is not already listed there, then please do contact the webmaster of that list, and alert him of your co-workers big lying mouth. If not already listed in it, he should be added to the listing.
Sincerely
A.B
