: Ya well, that is about typical !! I was told
: my husband, who is now deceased, that he was
: not in Vietnam. Yeah Right !!!!! The V A
: did not take care of him... he died because
: of it, with stage four Lung Cancer. It is
: alright to send you guys to war but do not
: expect good care when you come back sick or
: wounded. I can't stand it !!! Our Vets are
: mistreated. It is an awful unbelievable
: shame. My Dad was in Guadal Canal in World
: War 2 He was left to die of cancer as well
: at a V A hospital.... Just adding my
: information to yours. I lost my dad and
: husband to treatable cancer because of the V
: A. I am in a 3 year tussel with them. I
: will not give up, my husband was on the USS
: St Louis LKA 116 It DID go to Vietman and
: shuttled up and down the coast of Vietnam
: with Marines and amphibious crafts phus AO
: on the ship. The navy denies it. Well I can
: show them differently. My husband was
: exposed along with all the men on that ship
: as well as other men on Vietnam offshore
: Navy ships. The water they drank and the
: air they breathed was contaminated with
: Agent Orange and who else knows what. So
: there it is.....I have spouted off. Now, I
: and Mom are widows. No Thanks to the V A
: healthcare.... Was their even a real doctor
: in the building?!!! Contracted PA's are NOT
: doctors. You are considered lucky to see
: anyone at all.

: Man in wheelchair during CP exam for kidney
: failure. Dr asks "are you having
: trouble walking"?
: Vet :"I can't walk anymore". Dr,
: " you're probably out of shape, you're
: not 25 anymore".
: Dr asks are you on blood pressure
: medications? Vet: "yes" Dr
: "your'e a little high today 220 over
: 115" .Vet "I've been told that's
: because of my kidney problem" Dr "
: well you're at 18% kidney function but I
: don't think your're kidney's are the source
: of the problem" Vet all my other
: doctor's in private practice told me it was
: related to kidney function" Dr , no
: comment.
: Vet why is it Doc that the woman down in the
: transplant section told me that so many
: Vietnam Vets are in kidney failure"?
: Dr: "listen the government has been
: extremely generous to Vietnam Vets by even
: allowing these things to be Agent Orange
: related"
: Things overheard in the VA waiting lobby:
: Vet " this pain is killing me"
: another vet "aren't they giving you
: medication"? vet "My prescription
: is empty"? other Vet :"Have you
: seen anyone yet"?Vet: "not yet
: I've been waiting here 4 hours". Other
: Vet" Can't you contact you're
: doctor"? Vet: "No they sent him
: back to India when they jerked his green
: card, He's the guy that removed half my lung
: for the cancer" Two hours later : Vet
: asking same vet "have you seen the doc
: yet'? Vet with cancer "not yet".
: Vet told by Dr " it seems you were not
: in Vietnam , Not in combat and not exposed
: to agent orange" Vet, Doc my DD214 says
: USARV Vietnam with service and campaign
: medal ,CIB, and agent orange is presumed. Dr
: " you better get down to the
: eligibility people and get that
: corrected". Vet "my DD214 is the
: first document I ever showed the VA. When I
: first talked to my VSO he pulled me up on
: his computer and even it showed Vietnam
: service. Dr. They use a different system
: than the VA, better get it fixed if you can.

My youngest brother, who is now 59 years old, has reoccurring bladder cancer. He is retired from Keystone Steel and Wire in Bartonville, Ill. after 33 years service. Mike is also a Viet Nam veteran. Shortly after he retired, Keystone filed bankruptcy and the first "money saving" thing Keystone did, was to drop medical for retired workers and their spouses. So, here is my brother, with bladder cancer that reoccurs, and a wife in poor health, and he goes to the VA to apply for medical care. They told him he made TO MUCH MONEY TO BE ELIGIBLE!! Mike had taken a job as a school custodian(janitor!) at $10.50 an hour to have medical insurance for him and his wife. No help for Mike, says the V.A.!! Is it any wonder why people like him and myself are still in a rage over Viet Nam and the treatment of those Nam vets???? I go into pure rage when, every 4 to 6 years, the Congress votes themselves a huge raise in benefits and salary and LOWERS the money going to Veterans!! But I tell my brother of the horror stories I know of men/women who went to various veterans hospitals so maybe Mike and his wife are much better off being poor and working as a janitor!! Still makes me very angry and fills my heart with hatred for the President and Congress!!
