1968 draft status

hi, i have a question....if a man's draft status (in 1968) was 2-S, what exactly did that mean? i was told that it was some sort of student deferrment, but was is possible that when the deferrment was over that he would have been drafted? i have tried calling the army, but they were of no real help. i am hoping that one of you brave men could answer my questions. please e-mail me: eleanorvance@hotmail.com. thank you! eleanor
