Interesting article on the business side of the Philly Marathon.
Our friend and long time "running" supporter Jim Marino (race director of Broad Street) requested I pass this message along:

Subject: Philadelphia Marathon article 11-1-2009
To my friends in the Running community, I strongly urge you to read the article in the
Philadelphia Inquirer Business section Sunday November 1, 2009. I am not sure where you
stand on this issue but I do know that we have very capable people here in the
Philadelphia area that could do this event if it should ever leave the City
Representative's office. I urge you to express your opinions on this issue and not let
it be taken over by an out of the area operation which could hurt the runners in the
long run with extremely high fees, etc.
This may be the only chance to have the running community in the area to publicly
express their opinions on this Philadelphia tradition.
Please don't let this opportunity slide away. Please contact your fellow members in the
running community to also express their opinions on this issue. The Running community
helped build this event and you should have a say on what may happen.
