I remember those bonuses. I almost took the bait 
! It really looked tempting. I remember the snipe who tore up his new car too! Poor guy. I wonder if he stayed in the whole term. Remember MM2 McGuire? Boy was he a character. He was always brewing some concoction in the engineroom. He had a copy of a book that taught him to make everything from speed to bombs. And he could do it too! Man you have a great memory! Yea, those were the days. Glad I got out though in Long Beach. I probably wouldn't have stayed E6 if I had stayed around. LA and southern California was starting to really get crazy in the early 80's.
I just got back from San Diego last week after attending a buddies funeral. National City, 32nd street, the the whole area has reall changed. Especially the downtown area. It's big bucks now. I couldn't spot a working girl if I tried! Boy times have changed.
