Ron, is that you? We left the Jouett together in October 84'. We transfered to the USS Samuel Gompers in the Indian Ocean for a few days and then flew by H-46 Helo to Al Messera, Oman. From there we caught a C-141 to Diego Garcia. Because of the monsoons in the Philippines we were stuck on Diego Garcia for a few extra days. We were also flying with a USO band and saw the same show a couple of times. Because our flight was grounded some jerk wanted me to stand a watch after we had just spent 90 days in the IO and I was out of the Navy. I decided that it would be more fun to go drinking with the Australian sailors and "nurses". That jerk wrote me up for disobeying a lawful order and sent me to Captains Mast on Diego Garcia! You left on the flight the next morning and I stayed. At Captains Mast the CO of the Base yelled at the Jerk who wrote me up for wasting his time and they put me on the nextday flight to Clark AFB in PI........... There is more to my seperation story ( nipa hut, Angeles city, and back to Subic because I missed my original flight back)
