I am the very first to admit that I never really appreciated Jouett when I was aboard her in the 60’s and early 70’s. However when I came back aboard her as Navy Reservist in the early 80’s, I remember sitting on her mess decks in the waning hours and I saw the ghosts of shipmates past. However they were her present crew, but I saw old friends. They had the same walk. They had the same talk. I found myself wanting to call out them, but my old friends had moved on. I have lived with that haunting for over 25 years.
