My wife and I had a wonderful time at the Reunion. I was a little concerned I wouldn't know anyone from my time onboard Jouett but that turned out to be not a problem at the banquet. Quentin Thompson came up to my table and introduced himself, and Will Pruitt as well. I regret that I did not meet Chris Rose until we both were waiting at the airport to catch planes for home. The Midway tour was great; even though I never served aboard a bird farm it brought back lots of Navy memories. Especially when I made it down to Three Engineroom. I could almost hear the scream of the machinery despite the cold iron watch in place. And you never forget the smell of "the pit".
I also enjoyed meeting Herman Touchet and Tim Kane. Herman and his wife made me and my wife feel very welcome, which went a long way since it was our first reunion to attend.
At this point my wife and I are planning for Orlando in '08. Hopefully more folks from my time aboard will be there, but it will also be great to meet more of those who served before and after me.
Overall, a great time! Thanks many times over for those who worked hard to make this reunion happen!
