Posted by T.O.S. on 12/3/2003, 1:07 pm When they started to thrash and roll into my booth, I promptly tried to get my female friend out of there. She wouldn't go, partly because she was stuck, but more out of some kind of sence of pride where she wasn't going to moved by a pair of drunken a$$holes, come Hell or high water. So she told me to call the cops which I did. It occurred to me that a crowd had appeared and no one made any effort to separate these women or to call the police. So I did. Apparantly, the first woman kept bumping into my friend during the struggle, and she had had enough of the instigator's bullshit, so she punched her a bunch of times which caused the fight to end. Wow, the women I hang out with, huh? By the time the police showed up, the ladies were in their respective neutral corners. The cops were prepared to arrest both women because they got conflicting accounts on what happened plus both women wanted to have the other charged with assault. When the cops explained that would mean possibly spending the rest of the weekend in the lock-up, the second decide she would not press charges if the first wouldn't too. The drunk first one wouldn't let it go, so the cops handcuff her to get it through to her what would happen if she didn't just drop it. She finally got a clue, and both ladies went their separate ways. Fortunately, no one mentioned my female friend's role in this melee. This was an unpleasant event, and I didn't find it very amusing in the least.

I was witness to a cat fight at Ben's Pizzeria on MacDougal Street in the Village (New York City). It broke out right next to me and a female friend of mine. No good reason I could ascertain, just one drunk lady deciding it was a good idea to jump the lady sitting opposite her. They were thrashing about and the second lady's boyfriend was trying to get the instigator off of her. It was ugly. Blood, hair pulling and screaming.
