Posted by Bill on 8/21/2003, 7:42 am The first round matches were okay. Some were better than others. A match goes until someone gets pinned for a three count, which usually just happens when one girl is just too tired to fight back anymore. If they last through the full three rounds then the crowd decides the winner. As would be expected, things picked up for the semifinals and the finals as the weaker wrestlers had been weeded out and the girls who really wanted to go at it were the ones remaining. No full nudity, at least in the tournament that I saw, but there were a few brief bikini top slips and even a couple of bikini bottom slips revealing their backsides for a moment. They used pretty good mud that clung to the girls to the point where the suits almost became invisible anyhow. The crowd seemed into it, including a surprising number of women who were there to watch. Personally, I've always believed that many women secretly would love to give something like this a try but most don't have the nerve to admit it, let alone actually do it. You could kind of see it in some of their eyes here as well when they were asked if they wanted to participate and declined and as they watched the matches happening. Overall, I had a good time though I heard from others that it gets much wilder there at times. If you're in Vegas, I think it's worth checking out. There's a $10 cover to get in after 10:00pm. My advice ... get there early and have dinner at one of the tables set up around the mud pit. I noticed a lot of people who just seemed to have camped out there and continued drinking after they ate until the wrestling started. They have a rock/heavy metal cover band and the mechanical bull riders to keep you entertained in the meantime. If anyone else checks it out, I'd be interested to here their thoughts. Or of anyplace else around this great U.S. of ours that has similar competitions. That's all I have for now. See ya! -Bill

I was in Vegas this week and, having seen your post, checked it out. It's at Gilley's in the Frontier Hotel on Wednesdays at 11:00pm. A local radio station hosts it. They talk 8 girls from the crowd into doing it with the promise of cash prizes and stage a single elimination tournament. Obviously, that means the quality of what you'll see is kind of pot luck depending on how good the girls are who sign up. The night I was there, the show started 20 minutes late as the struggled to fill the last two slots and then sometime during the second match, 2 of the girls backed out leaving them with only 6. So normally there are 7 matches but I only got to see 5. They supply the girls with bikinis, though 1 girl there obviously came there intent on wrestling as she had brought her own.
