My wife and her sister got into an unbelievable catfight on Mothers day
recently. I say unbelievable for 2 reasons.
1 - there has been no animosity between them since they were in their early
teens. They are now 35 (my wife) and 34
2 - the build up to it and the brutality in which they set about each other -
I could not have scripted any better and I was transfixed by it - a first
real catfight for me involving my wife and sister who are both built
pretty much the same - 5 Foot 4,. My wife Nancy possibly not as stocky as
her sister Chris. I am not an expert when it comes to measurements so I
guess Nancy is a slim 32 28 34 with Chris maybe a 34 chest. Again ideally
for me they were both dressed in tight jeans and boots, Nancy in a blue t
shirt and Chris white.
The scene was set for a great afternoon's sun, food and drink and all was
going swimmingly until Chris's husband left us to go and see his own mam,
leaving me, Nancy, Chris and Muriel, the sisters' mother looking after the
two children who were playing football on the small back garden. Joel, our
son (8) and Ryan (5), Chris's son were getting bored and wanted some adult
participation in the game. Due to an injury playing football the previous
day, I was unable to play. As the girls had a few to drink, Chris decided
she would play.
To cut along story a little shorter, Chris hurt Joel with her boots,
apologised but laughingly. This prompted Nancy to suggest playing Mother
and Son versus Mother and son. At this point, everything was very playful
and a good laugh as the sisters pushed and pulled at each other while
jostling for the ball. Even at this point I was slightly aroused by the two
sisters playfully competing.
However, a combination of factors seemed to miraculously, for me, result in
tensions between the two heating up as the game went on. First Chris ended
up on her back side to the amusement of Nancy, then Chris accidentally (or
was it) hurt Joel again with her over exuberance (i.e. drink). Nancy
blasted the ball into Ryan's face causing him to cry and the good natured
banter started to become a little poisonous. Muriel urged them to call it a
day and i was sitting there gobsmacked.
Chris gained revenge by barging Nancy to the floor with a "I told you i
would get you back" taunt. Unamused, Nancy took the opportunity during the
next challenge for the ball to accidentally kick Chris in the shin. This is
when things boiled over with Chris pushing Nancy "That hurt and you did it
on purpose" "Stop whingeing - if you can't take it, don't dish it out" Nancy
replied and pushed her back. "Oh see how you like it then" and Chris
promptly booted Nancy in the shin as hard as she could. Nancy hopped on
one leg for a second or two and as Muriel rose to stop them, Chris turned and
warned her to keep out of it. "Hurts, doesn't it" Chris barked. At this
Nancy aimed a boot at Chris's side catching her on the hip. "Right" Chris
started "That's it" and the two sisters launched themselves at each other. I
was transfixed and although Muriel was pleading with me to stop it i was
oblivious to it as I watched my wife and her sister pulling each other around
the garden, banging into the fence, pulling hair, booting lumps out of each
other and slapping and screaming.
The fight was so evenly matched and when they fell to the floor the
spectacle, while by no means a mud wrestling match, became even greater as
the damp grass soon began to muddy their clothes. They churned over and over
on the grass until they separated. They rose, waiting for each other to make
a move with taunts of "Come on then". Then blast it all, Chris's husband
returned and between him and me we manged to keep the sisters off each other
and bundle Nancy into the car, when all i wanted was to let them go.
I apologised to Nancy for not stopping it and she said she did not mind as
she enjoyed it. I think both sisters probably regret this but neither has
apologised. As far as Nancy is concerned it was Chris's fault and vice
versa. I guess no more Mother day family barbecues. If wish they were all
as good as this one.
