"Just remember you said that Jenny." I said "And one more thing. If either of you keeps hitting the other after they've given in, I'll hit you." I was talking to both of them but looking at Jenny as I said it. Just a bit of insurance for Emma, who was completely poised, calm and confident as she stood there, facing her somewhat larger antagonist. "All right, I'll let you get on with it." I said.
I thought "why worry about what Jenny thinks", kissed Emma deeply and stepped away.
Before they could start however Jane made a last minute dash to Jenny to plead with her again not to do this. Jenny pushed her roughly away.
Emma and Jenny circled each other warily, the way most fights like this start. It seemed to me even from these preliminary moves that Emma was somewhat more balanced and lighter on her feet than the heavier girl.
Jenny charged, arms outstretched to take Emma in a bear hug and maybe pile drive her into the wall behind. Emma stood her ground, her right fist shot out as Jenny made contact, hitting her a terrific crack on the mouth. The blow would have dropped an elephant, I thought, but it didn't quite stop Jenny, whose arms were still attempting to encircle Emma in a bear hug. Emma's knee rose with terrific power hitting Jenny between the legs with a clearly discernable thud - a sound a bit like an axe biting into a large tree.
Jenny's mouth was open but no sound came. She sank to her knees. Interestingly, Jenny was now in exactly the same position as Elizabeth had been in during her first catfight with Emma. Instead of slipping behind and applying a full nelson however, as she had done on that occasion, Emma threw no less than four titanic downward clubbing punches at Jenny's head until she toppled over backwards. For once, I understood how Emma's mind worked: this was an altogether different kind of fight.
Emma turned to us, where Jane had risen from the bed "Stay there" she said in a curt voice of command. Jane dropped back to the bed as if under a spell from Emma, as perhaps she was. Elizabeth, grim faced, took her hand. Emma strolled over and in a marvelous, imperious gesture, took a sip of water as she surveyed Jenny struggling to rise from the carpet.
"Unless you're even more stupid than I think you are, you should stay down." Emma said to Jenny.
I rose and said "Emma, I have to stop it."
"NO" came the strangled cry from the carpet "I wont be beaten." I shrugged and sat down.
"Take as long as you like to get up then." said Emma.
Whilst apparently very magnanimous, I wondered whether this was driven by tactics on Emma's part. She was clearly the infinitely better fighter on her feet but, based on the days wrestling experience, may have risked a reversal had she gone to the floor to finish Jenny. As long as she kept her feet however, she couldn't lose.
Elizabeth was now holding Jane whose head was resting on her shoulder as she sobbed uncontrollably.
Jenny eventually rose unsteadily to her feet. Without a further word Emma glided in and delivered three powerful unanswered punches: two to Jenny's massive breasts and one to her stomach. Jenny pitched forward and lay still.
I snapped out of the thrall that I think Emma had us all held in and rushed forward, thinking "I should have stopped it" but also thinking "at least she didn't hit her on the head again". I rolled Jenny over and saw with relief that she was conscious if almost delerious with pain. Elizabeth and Jane had rushed forward with me and I left them to attend to Jenny.
I went over to Emma, standing as poised and erect as at the start of the fight and completely unhurt. I went to her purely out of a sense of overwhelming desire for her after her victory. I had felt the same after her conquest of Elizabeth but did not feel totally free to admit to it at that time. I placed my hands on her slim waist, pulled her close, feeling her beautiful body next to mine and kissing her deeply. She truly was MY fighting hellcat, just as Elizabeth was, and it simply felt right to celebrate her victory with her.
I continued to hold her tightly and kiss her until Elizabeth came over. They hugged and kissed with their usual passion, tears of relief flowing freely from Elizabeth's eyes but none whatsover from the self contained Emma!
I put my arms round them and said "I love you both so much." Even I was crying with emotion by now but Emma remained dry eyed. She said "Thank you Peter, I know you were looking out for me tonight just like you do for Elizabeth. I've never had anyone do that for me before and it makes me feel really special. I love you both so much. I've realised I've never really been in love before and now I fall in love with two people at the same time! I can't believe you've let me in to share what you two have. You've made me feel a part of something for the first time in my life, albeit a subsidiary part."
Elizabeth broke free, looked at me and I nodded "No" she said "A full part. We both LOVE YOU, Emma." Finally, Emma cried.
* * *
Eventually, I helped Jane put a groggy Jenny in their car. Jane came up to me, put her arms round me and kissed me with all her usual fiery redheaded passion. It makes me sad now to think that it was to be for the last time.
Jane swayed in my arms and said "Thank you for trying to stop it Peter, that was decent of you but you always were a decent bloke. Like when Neal ran away and you and Elizabeth looked after me after our fight together. I've never forgotten that. Actually, if I'd thought I'd have had any chance of ever taking you away from Elizabeth, I would have fought her again, even though I know I'd have had no chance of beating her!"
I said "You don't have to Janey, you know she'll share me with you whenever you like. We both really care for you, YOU KNOW that. Even Emma likes you, she said so before we went upstairs. You're a terrific girl and we'd all love to play with you again. You've just been unlucky with some of the people you've been with. The offer of moving into our spare bedroom is still there, if you want it. It'd be great fun, just like old times!"
She smiled and said "I know it would be, Peter but for some strange reason I don't fully understand myself, I really love Jenny, for all her faults and nobody knows them better than me. At least she's mine, I guess. Like you and Elizabeth will always belong to each other, no matter who else you play with."
Jane continued, shaking her head "Jen's a terrible bully though, always picking fights with other girls who don't want to fight. She told me in the spa that she'd been trying to provoke Elizabeth and Emma into fighting her. I told her that was a terrible way to behave when we'd been invited over to a sexy party and you'd both gone to so much trouble. She just laughed and said not to worry because neither of those two 'wimpy girls' would dare to challenge her. I told her that I didn't know Emma but I knew Elizabeth better than I knew any other woman, including her, and I knew she wouldn't stand for it. I told her Elizabeth could really fight too, not like most of the girls she's beaten up. I'm sorry Peter, please tell Elizabeth I'd never have brought Jenny over if I'd known she was going to behave like that."
"She already knows that Janey. Trouble is, knowing Elizabeth as I do, I'd say she'd only ever let Jenny into the house again to have that fight with her she feels she should have had tonight. [I was right!] That might make things difficult for a while but we don't want to lose YOU, Janey." I said sadly.
We stood there silently for a moment then Jane said suddenly "Peter, where did you see Emma fight before?" I said "She had two catfights with Elizabeth in London" and waited, smiling. "Who won?" she was forced to ask eventually. "They both did - one each." I said, grinning. "Yes, that makes sense!" said Jane nodding "Funny way to make friends, though!"
"It's how you and Elizabeth first met." I reminded her.
"Don't be a stranger, Janey." I said softly as I watched her drive off, out of our lives. Despite the occasional coffee or lunch in town with Jane, who stayed with Jenny, we gradually lost touch with her over the years. We have no idea where she is now.
