"That's the first time that I've ever walked in on you two and haven't found you with your tongues down each other's throats." I said. [That was certainly how I expected to find them and what I felt like doing!]
"Oh, ha ha, darling and we all know how much you hate THAT!" replied my quick witted wife "A girl's got to eat, you know, she's got to keep her strength up, she never know's when she might need it, as our darling Emma showed us tonight. So, instead of boring us with your PATHETIC attempts at humour, darling, why dont you do what you do best and open a bottle of wine. Poor Emma's parched!"
I responded to this tirade by slipping behind her, placing my hands on the flat of stomach, kissing her neck gently and saying "That's not what I do best, darling!"
"Yes" she said "I know you have other uses, darling but what we want now is WINE." "OK" I said and did exactly the same things to Emma before going to get the wine.
Over dinner I related my conversation with Jane, which drew many knowing nods and "I thought so's". We agreed that we hoped that things would work out for the best, that Jane would dump Jenny and move in to play with us
but I don't think any of us really believed it would happen that way. Both girls were relieved to know that Jenny had definitely been trying to provoke a fight with them all along. I guess it put her clearly in the wrong.
I noticed Emma had this austere look on her face that she gets sometimes and that always makes me think she should be clad in black leather, smoking a cigarette from a long elegant cigarette holder! [She doesn't actually smoke]. She fixed me with this look, "Whatever's coming is going to be good" I thought!
"Oh Peter" she drawled, completely deadpan "I do hope you remembered to congratulate Jenny on winning the wrestling!"
Elizabeth and I collapsed helplessly with laughter, tears streaming from our eyes. It may seem terrible but we just couldn't help ourselves. Emma allowed herself a wicked giggle.
After this Elizabeth said "Sweetie, you were on fire tonight. I was totally in awe of you. I'd like to offer you my unconditional surrender now. Do whatever you like with me!"
Emma said "Mmmm...accepted! But you would have beaten her too, darling. Don't you agree, Peter?"
"Definitely" I said "I have no doubt of it whatsoever, she might have been big but she was clumsy."
"Yes, I suppose she wasn't as big as Monica." said Elizabeth thoughtfully.
After their second catfight together in London, we had, by unspoken consent, pretty much stayed off the subject of fighting but this comment opened the floodgates as Emma enquired about Elizabeth's first two fights, with Jane and Monica. "Wow" Emma said at the end "I love it. I've never fought as part of part of a couple like you two did in the first one! "
I said "If you ever need me, I'll be there for you."
"So will I, Sweetie, if you ever find two girls "cruising for a bruising" like Jenny was tonight, I'd love to fight by your side!" said Elizabeth.
"Not at the same time, though, that would make it too difficult for us spectators to catch all the action, the speed you girls move at!" I couldn't resist saying!
This drew the expected howls of derision!
"How many catfights have you had, Sweetie?" Elizabeth then asked Emma curiously.
"Well, let me see, there's been a bit of a rush on lately" said Emma "I had a baker's dozen at school, two hostesses and one passenger - one of the ones I spilt coffee on! - four at the club, two gorgeous one's with you, darling girl and fatso tonight. I suppose that's twenty three in all."
Both Elizabeth and I were simply stunned to hear this. No doubt the cumulative effect of this news, added to the impact of Emma's comprehensive defeat of Jenny earlier in the evening, induced the following blond moment from Elizabeth: "Have you ever lost, Sweetie?" she asked.
"Oh, yes. I got my arse kicked really badly once by this scrumptious girl and fell completely in love with her. You darling, remember?"
"Oh sorry!" blurted out Elizabeth, flushing delightfully with embarrassment "I must have been thinking of us as a draw or something! After what you did to Jenny tonight
though, I still can't quite believe I could even draw with a girl like you! But how many other fights have you lost?"
"None."
The pleasure spread slowly across Elizabeth's face "I'm the ONLY ONE who has ever beaten you!... and you're the only one who has ever beaten me! I like that!"
"So do I, darling girl." said Emma, smiling.
"Lets hope it stays that way." I said soberly "Change of subject, what would you girls like to do tommorrow?"
"You have something in mind, darling?" said Elizabeth slyly.
"Yes, but probably not what you're thinking! Ever been sailing, Emma?" I asked.
"But of course" Emma said in her best plummy tone "Not just sailing" she said crinkling her nose "I have been boating on the Thames!"
"Mmm" I said "What does that involve?"
"Mostly sitting around drinking champagne and looking gorgeous, of course." she replied.
"Mmm, yes there will be plenty of opportunities for that
I suppose!" I said grinning "Darling, why dont you pack one of your fabulous picnic hampers and we'll stay out over night and take Emma to all our favourite places?"
"Oh, you're going to love it, Sweetie! There's only one cabin on the boat for us to share but it will be such fun to squeeze in together!" said Elizabeth. Trust her to think of the sleeping arrangements first!
We had a glorious day out together. The two spectacular bikini clad girls on my boat seemed to attract a good deal of attention! Finally, in the late evening,
the girls swam ashore to one of our favourite secluded and, at that time of the evening, completely deserted, beaches and I paddled the dingy ashore with towels, champagne and other necessities.
It was a balmy early autumn evening. There was a nearly full moon casting a luminous glow. A perfect setting. Emma stood beside Elizabeth holding hands and said "The view is just so breathtakingly beautiful!" Looking at them both I said "Yes, isn't it!" but I think either my comment went over their heads, or they chose to rise above it!
"You know what it makes me feeling like doing?" said Emma.
"What, Sweetie?"
"Wrestling with a really beautiful woman on this beach."
"Don't you mean ANOTHER really beautiful woman, Sweetie?"
"I guess so!" Emma laughed.
"Do you have any particular women in mind for that, Sweetie?" Elizabeth asked casually.
Emma reeled off the same list of princesses, actresses and models as Elizabeth had in Emma's flat in London three months earlier, adding with a smile: "It was pretty much my list too!"
Elizabeth then said "But if you had to choose one woman above all others to do that with, who would she be?"
"You"
"Lets do it." said Elizabeth.
"Bit overdressed though aren't we, darling?" said Emma tugging at the string on her Bikini top.
"Oh Sweetie, that's so easily fixed!" said Elizabeth.
As I watched them wrestling together on the beach with total abandon for the next hour, enjoying every girlish grunt and gasp of their contest, it occurred to me that they epitomised the total joy of wrestling I had found in my youth.
