Don't know about the Evansville area, but in the 90's, the cheerleaders in my area sometimes would have fights after games and other athletic matches. It seems that the cheering would turn into taunting the other cheer squad until somebody got pissed and issued a challenge. I never saw any of the fights but did see some black eyes, bruises, and scratched arms/faces when the girls came back to school a few days afterward.
