Did you know that: Here at Wellness AIDS Services, we offer many programs for various types of people. What I recommend for EVERYONE is our absolutely-free HIV testing. This is a social group for young gay and bisexual men (transmen and transwomen are welcome too, regardless of your sexual orientation!). It was created to give this group of men a way to meet new friends and possibly start up new relationships ... outside of the bar! Now, trust me, I enjoy going to the clubs like everyone else... I go every weekend... heck, sometimes I go during the week. But I do realize that the bar is not necessarily the ideal place to meet the man of my dreams... AND I was just speaking with a new friend, and mentioned that I don't usually go up to other people in the bar (for meeting a potential boyfriend OR for friendship reasons). I am too shy. This group allows gay/bi/trans/questioning men to meet others without feeling awkward or shy. We force you to make friends... haha, just kidding, but we strongly encourage it. And bring YOUR friends along, too! My motto is The More, The Merrier. And just so you know, although the group is intended for gay/bi men in Flint, anyone with an open mind and a great attitude is welcome and encouraged to come! * 1 in 500 HIV+ Americans know that they are HIV+.
* Although African American women are the current highest risk group, young gay and bisexual men are still among the highest risk groups for contracting HIV.
* Most people either do not know how to use a condom properly or choose not to. This can lead not only to HIV infections, but other STDs, pregnancies, and other complications for your life.
*Even if you are already positive, you are able to live a wonderful and productive life with love all around. You just need the tools and knowledge about how to do that safely, both for yourself and for your partners.
