Back in Oct. 2000 my partner and I went to Vermont and had a civil union ceremony there. It was a really wonderful experience even though technically it wasn't legal in the eyes of the State of Michigan or the federal government. Although if we ever moved to Vermont it would give us rights under their state laws. But getting back to your question, we had our ceremony at the First Unitarian/Universalist Church of Burlington. The minister there seemed almost as excited about it as we were so it was really a positive experience. I think Unitarians in general would be willing to help you with this even if its not legal in Michigan. You might want to contact the Flint Unitarian/Universalist Church over on Ballenger Hwy. Good Luck.
