Posted by Greg on 1/12/2005, 11:43 am, in reply to "Lookin' for bi-friends" I understand that you may feel targeted at times by both the straight and gay communities. There is a definite, undeniable biphobic nature of both communities. With the gay community, specifically, there are often feelings that men (especially) that identify as bisexual are simply not fully accepting themselves yet. At times, this is true. At times, it is not. I have a definite preference for men, but I know personally (after looooong periods of self-searching and acceptance) that I also am quite attracted to women. There can be a sort of peer pressure to conform. Just do what somebody would tell anyone questioning their sexuality: BE YOURSELF!!! Don't worry about what other people think. You will eventually find your place. In the mean time, make lots of different types of friends. So....... after all that preaching talk, hehe, here's my suggestion: COME MEET US IN THE CENTER!!! We are really fun, really nice, and REALLY accepting. If you have any questions, call us at 810.766.6606, and if nobody is in the office, leave a voice message. The office is located in Student Life (the big office area with glass windows) on the third floor of UCEN (office #365), right next door to the Women's Educational Center. Please don't be shy! We are awesome people (wow, that was kind of conceited, wasn't it? haha). Also, every Thursday night, we have a programming event at The Good Beans Cafe', on the corner of Grand Traverse and 1st Ave., five minutes away from the University. We have a mailing list, and if you would like to be added, just send a message to youngcr@umflint.edu, clearly stating in the message line that you are writing in concern to the mailing list, and just tell Christopher what you want. It is an important tool for getting out various messages to the community. Anywho, come in! Call us! Write back! Just get in contact with us however you can, and we will help you out however we can! Hope to see you soon, LGBT Center

Hi!!! My name is Greg. I work with the LGBT Center, and just saw your message. I want you to know that you can come up here anytime. We are always excited when new people come into the Center. I see that you are looking especially for bi-friends. The majority of those that come into the center identify as homosexual... but then again, not all do. I personally am bisexual as well.
