Posted by LGBT CENTER on 11/29/2004, 4:02 pm As you may or may not be aware of, World AIDS Day is coming up fast. It is December 1, 2004, and will be celebrated in Flint this year at the International Institute beginning at 7 p.m. Many groups from around the area will be present including, but not limited to, Wellness HIV/AIDS Services, Woodside Church, Planned Parenthood, Mott Gay-Straight Alliance, and more! Please stop by to show your support and care. This year the main themes for the programs are "Women & HIV/AIDS" and "HIV/AIDS Prejudice". Many people forget that HIV/AIDS is still a serious and deadly problem for the world, not to mention for Americans. A need to combat prejudices, provide new and informative information, and educate the public, especially the youth, about the consequences and ways to prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS, as well as new ways to treat (not cure, yet) those already infected. The spread of this disease is rampant in less-developed countries, especially in Southeast and Central Asia, Africa, and Eastern Europe, but continues to threaten the safety of people from all over the world, including the United States. Again, please take some time out of your schedule if possible and come support this cause. Your help and care are definitely needed.
